I was completely and utterly exhausted to last through the school day, but I managed! And today was a little different than usual. We still did some routine things but... well I'll let you real.

1st Period
So today we went over the homework pretty quickly. For some reason my alarm didn't really wake me up so I got up about half an hour before school started. Luckily for me, Mr. Frank sells muffins for a dollar. I love those muffins. I mean they are totally fatty and terrible for my health but I was starving and I wasn't going to wait another second. Class went by like a snap. We went over weather and we talked about our weather presentation. We need to take a map of France and talked about what plausible weather that area would have. So we're pretty much weather people. This is our first project alone and I'm pretty nervous. I'm not sure if my pronounciation will be good. It's on Thursday, so cross your fingers! We also talked more about our French recipe project and apparently my class level usually over does it with the desserts so I might try to find something non-sugary - sadly.

2nd Period
So since today was Tuesday we had to bring our SSR (I seriously still don't know what those letters stand for - sad right?) books and usually we read them for the first, I'll say 15-20 minutes of class. Today, my teacher decided to mix it up and have us take our Anne Frank Quiz first. I got 10/13, a C - YIKES! Then we did our reading while she checked our logs - which I loathe doing. Right after that we had a class discussion about what we believed was the change in Anne Frank's writing and attitude and why it happened. It was super brief and we spent the last 15 minutes of class going to the three posters and choosing one post-it note from each poster and copying down what it said. I finished early and just had a random conversation with Ms. Kitty, she's pretty cool! Tomorrow we have to write a one paragraph response to the post-its we chose.

3rd Period
I swear, Mr. Ching loves messing with us. The seats changed AGAIN! For like a week the tables were in groups and today they were all facing the window. Luckily, my seat is easy to find. He had half the class move the desks back and then the other half turn it around to face the front. We did a quick lesson and I feel really bad for Mr. Ching. Mrs. Aligator was there AGAIN to evalutate him. She stayed at the door today. After like two problems he let us go off to do classwork and homework.

4th Period
Alright, so I love PE but seriously I hate some of the things we have to do. First off, we had to take attendence - it was whatever the people I stand by are super cool and fun to talk to. But, instead of running like we usually do we had to go inside and do weights and exercises BORING! I love the music he plays but I just hate some of the exercises. It's probably just because I'm too lazy to do push-ups that really the only thing I hate and maybe if I paced myself with the crunches - instead of trying to be like the Flash - I would like those just a little. After we did two sets of weight exercises we went outside again. He got the boys who are experienced at football to have a game set up to play tag football and then the rest of the class divided up into boys and girls. Boys vs Boys, Girls vs Girls for flag football. Some girls were pretty pissed about it, but it was all for the sake of numbers. Yellow team - my team - won by two points! Woo!

Lunch
Today was pretty weird for me. Instead of getting a turkey sandwich like I always do I just got a cookie and nibbled on that. I'm not really one for starving themselves, because I know what seriously terrible effects it can have on you, but I just really didn't feel like eating. It was so weird! I just walked around for the whole lunch. I went back to Mrs. Caren's room and constructed a paper airlpane. After throwing it around back and forth, I got bored and decided to play a game on my friends, I threw it outside at my friend and closed the door, acting as if I didn't do anything. After a few tries I got this one guy to throw it at his friends and then they threw it to a group that was near by and for a minute or so they were throwing it at each other. It was pretty entertaining till they left it on the floor. I had to pick it up of course - I hate litering. DO NOT LITER PEOPLE!

5th Period
So today we started learning about our three part lesson. It's about Piracy, Copyright, and Plagiarism. Today we started on Copyright. It was acutally pretty entertaining. We started off by watching this really funny and educational video on youtube made by Professors in college. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJn_jC4FNDo we watched that video and its so funny. It was made by some Professors and its all about copyrights and everything. You should check it out. Then we went to a site and took a mini quiz on Copyright and to get out of class we had to say one thing we learned. Yeah, I know doesn't sound all that exciting, but trust me it was pretty awesome.

6th Period
So today we had a lab!! We did our warm ups, looked over homework. Yada, yada the usual. Then we went straight into a lab. We were testing the reactivity of metals and seeing if the Series Activity List was correct. We had to test our Zinc, Magnesium and Iron. We put them in separate little bubbles and covered them with Hydrochloric acid, zinc chloride, magnesium chloride and iron chloride. We found that the series is correct and in this order: Magnesium, Zinc, Iron, and Hydrogen. I know sounds like "Why do we care" well I care! I discovered I'm a pretty big science buff and I really like science - fave subject - so I love doing these labs. Best part of it is - NO HOMEWORK! Totally makes up for not having an explosion.

Then after school I stayed with Ms. Caren and I am now her pseudoTA. It took me an hour to remember that psuedo meant fake so apparently I am a fake teacher's aid. I graded some papers for her and yeah. The usual. I went straight home after.

Yeah it isn't the most interesting of days but it was pretty fun. I like having days like this where you just have no energy but everything goes great. Well I better finish my homework if I really wanna sleep early today. I'll check up with you guys tomorrow.Jess Vichttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13242397483758686915noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9076166585862662484.post-13913826447604469522010-11-29T19:28:00.000-08:002010-11-29T19:28:26.997-08:00MoandayWow! Sorry I didn't keep posting over the break, like I said it was a break and well I was super busy. First I was out all day, then my parents came and I was at my grans and then I went to Santa Rosa and stayed for two days and then well my parents were still here so I spent time with them and yeah. It was a crazy but totally awesome weekend! And before I start a very brief post about school - because I have tons of homework - How did your Thanksgiving go?

Alright so lets start

1st Period
We just finished our days of the week and date lessons. We did an oral comprehension like quiz and a few exercises. Then he talked about an "Easy A" assignment to bring food and a recipe in by next week. Sounds super fun and easy.

2nd Period
Super boring! Ms. Kitty wasn't there so I stayed up till 12 doing homework for nothing! Buut she will be there tomorrow and checking all our homework so I'm glad I'm not stocked up today. Very important lesson: If a teacher gives you over three days to do something, do NOT procrastinate!

3rd Period:
That class seemed so short! He showed us a few new definitions and then the rest of the time to do our homework. I won't lie to you, I barely listened to the warm up. It was too easy - complete review.

4th Period:
We had to run 3/4 mile in under 10 minutes - which is really easy if you try! That's pretty much all. Tomorrow we're playing football. YAY!

Lunch
I skipped club meeting today. Too tired from running so I just hung out in Mrs. Caren's room AGAIN.

5th Period
We were learning about how Wiki Leaks totally spilled the beans on OUR government and we had to give our opinion on if we thought it was ethical or not. I might fill you in over the weekend! Pretty interesting but I'm on a time scruncher at the moment.

6th Period
Oh fun, more chemistry! We just went over the warm up, homework, took notes on different time of chemical reactions and then did a worksheet. Same old same old for that class. Mr. Worm is like a record just playing the same thing over and over.

Then I stayed after school and aided my teacher haha. Fourth year of being a teacher's aid - except this year is a bit unofficial. Tutored PT in Chem a lil more and then more of my friends came and Ms. Caren kicked us out. We went to watch the JROTC kids do their drills and then my friend showed me a new way home. And that's not the only surprise I discovered - but that's for another topic.

Alright there's a quick summary of a very routine day. Till tomorrow - hopefully I have more fun stuff to fill you in on and more time to write it. See ya.Jess Vichttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13242397483758686915noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9076166585862662484.post-62662916965987316402010-11-23T19:34:00.000-08:002010-11-23T19:34:49.092-08:00A Friday sort of TuesdayOkay so, today felt super short to me, mostly because it is officially the start of Thanksgiving Break, so I'm going to just zoom through the classes today.

Period 1: French
Okay so today Mr. Frank had us start learning Date and stuff and we all had to go around learning each other's Birthdays. It was really fun and interactive. What I kind of didn't like was for this little activity we weren't allowed to speak English so it was a little tough, I might have slipped a word or two. Then when we were done with that, he had us do an activity where he got one student in the class to line us up in order of our birthdays. Our leader was only allowed to speak in French and so were we. We didn't learn too many words so he did mostly body language and luckily I caught on pretty easy. I got up and lined myself up then turned to the confusion and just kept saying "Ton anniversaire, janvier - decembre" motioning which way to go. After a little we finally got it down and our end time was 5:15 - we had a minute penalty for speaking English and being out of order.

Period 2: Honors English
Ms. Kitty wasn't all that happy today. I saw her in the morning and she wasn't smiling or joking around like she normally did. So I went ahead and asked her how she was feeling and she admitted it wasn't the best day. But we managed to get a laugh or two out of her to make her feel better. Then we all got started on our posters again so we could be ready to present them. Since I didn't really need to do anything I just talked to Ms. Kitty and we were all talking and a student asked "Were you a nerd when you were in High School?"
"Yeah I was a huge one." She admitted.
"Heck no! I don't believe you!" I exclaimed.
"Oh I was! I had the glasses and blonde hair..." That's when I stopped her and said she had to be lying!
She went to her desk and pulled out a Senior prom picture and I went nutso! She was blonde and she looked soo different! My friend and I went around class showing everyone and everyone just freaked out!

Period 3: Geometry
We had a test. Nuff said lol.

Period 4: Physical Education
It was raining AGAIN but we did not have to do weights. Instead we did roll and went straight into teams then started playing Soccer. Our team had the lead for like a second and then the other team - that had real soccer players - took over of course. Our class was cut short because leadership had to get ready for the Honor Roll luncheon. We got out early and just sat there for like fifteen minutes bored.

Lunch!
So I got on the Honor Roll and our treat was a cookie, water bottle and burrito. Get it, Honor ROLL haha lame joke. I gave my burrito - which I really don't like away - and ate my cookie in a heartbeat. Then I went to the lunch room and got a real and healthy lunch - Lettuce Turkey Sandwich with nummy mustard! Then I went to bother Ms. Kitty again and she was feeling a lot better. Then after that I went to Ms. Caren's room and hung out with her till class started.

Period 5: DC
We just pretty much finished yesterday's work. My group was the first to present their video and I was morbidly embarrassed because it was my voice we were using. I slouched so far in the chair, my knees touched the ground. We all just critiqued each other and yeah, like I said today zoomed by so fast that it seemed a little boring.

Period 6: Chemistry
Okay today this class was SUPER boring. We finished our lab and then we had a worksheet. Like I said extremely boring

After School:
Okay so today after school I was once again in Ms. Caren's room. I was helping PT with his Chemistry homework, since I finished mine and thought: Wow why don't I just become a teacher. Then I remembered my brother said that Teachers should live life before they teach. I agree! Then after that we just left.

Yeah sorry for the boring update today guys, just today was so hectically short that I have no idea. I hope they'll better than this next time.
Jess Vichttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13242397483758686915noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9076166585862662484.post-35048629034691690052010-11-22T19:21:00.000-08:002010-11-22T19:21:36.986-08:00Moon-dayOkay so today was actually really fun for a Monday, you wouldn't this from an average Monday, but then again this week is pretty special. The break down of this week is Monday and Tuesday we have school then the rest of the week off! Isn't that awesome? So from Wednesday to Sunday this week you'll just be getting some tips about how High School normally works, because I did leave out a few awesome things since I started a little late. Anyways...

First Period: French
Okay so today we started learning days of the weeks and dates and all that stuff. We found out some pretty cool things that I used to goof off thinking about - why the days were named what they were. I used to say Monday was named like that because we used to be monkeys. Tuesday because its the Second day of the weekday. Wednesday because a important person got married that day. Thursday because that's the day when you're thirsty. Friday because that's when you fry things. Saturday because we sit all day. And Sunday because it was always sunny. Yeah I know that sounds pretty lame, but hey! I thought of those when I was in elementary school, don't judge. Okay so apparently Sunday and Monday were named after the Sun and the Moon, which is pretty cool. Then all the other days were named after gods, or that's how it is in like Europe, America's all wacked out and we have our own system. We live in our own little universe. But yeah, we just practiced that and yea. It was ah-ight.

Second Period: Honors English
Omigosh, Ms. Kitty had us do the coolest thing, well its pretty fun in my opinion. So she divided us into six groups, like she did before, and we all got a diary entry to read from Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank. We all read it individually then we all had to come up with a poster, all pictures. And so my group got August 4, 1943. It was the start of like her explaining what they did in each time. I suggested the good old, block after block pictures of what they are doing with time stamps. Instead, the really out of the box thinking, Lime, stated what she thought was the hidden meaning. She wanted to do a poster of Anne just in her bed with sounds all around her. I said I get it, but I didn't really but hey, it's whatever. It's creative and unique so no judgement. So for the whole period we just spent time on the floor drawing and coloring - just like in Elementary School! We get another fifteen minutes tomorrow then we have to present. That's probably the only thing I hate. LOL awe well, life goes on right?

Third Period: Geometry
This was pretty much a free period. Not really got write much about it since we didn't do anything all that BAM but we got classwork - which was also our homework - and then we were done. The end. Yeah some times school is that easy and boring, it's not always crazy so chill your nerves.

Fourth Period: Physical Education
So, today since it rained we were back inside! Not bad but I rather be outside. We had to wait for our teacher inside the gym and I was a little hyper and wanted to warm up because it was FREEZING so I walked up to my friend, Custard, and said 'Tag you're it!' then ran off! It was so great because she went and tagged her friend her tagged their other friend and so on and so forth till we had a huge game going! It was so great. We were all running around the gym like we were young again. I miss those days. After a few minutes of chasing each other Mr. Chevy came in and called us to our roll call spots. After all that business we did weight training to Michael Jackson songs. It was hilarious! After one set, thank god, we all dispersed and played one of my favorite games: BAD MINTON! We only played like three rounds though before we were called back to our roll call spots so he go do an NBA style call out for everyone on the honor roll for free lunch tomorrow - I got in!

Lunch:
Alrighty, so today was Monday so I had a Key Club meeting. I had to rush to get my lunch and get to the meeting before it started at 12:30. We just talked about old business, new business and all that. It was really short. It's just a community service club to help your community and earn your hours to graduate. It's actually really fun, but sadly I have plans for Thanksgiving so I couldn't sign up for any events. After that I went down, got a cookie and just hung out in Mrs. Caren's room as usual. There are very few classrooms I just feel comfortable to hang back in, her's is one of them. Ms. Kitty's is another and also Mr. Worm, but it's because I'm completely comfortable with hanging out with them, they are super cool!

Fifth Period: DC
Okay I think I told you guys about our sexting project right? Well we were doing a Paper Slide Video and Friday we finished teh script and pictures so today we just had to film and answer the group evaluation questions. Even though Hee was supposed to read, I read it because he was stumbling on some words. We kept having to trade jobs. In the end, I read, Hee took the papers, Tack put the papers down and Lucas recorded. After like three takes - and all my breath being gone - we finished! We have to present them tomorrow, so cross your fingers!

Sixth Period: Chemistry
Did I ever tell you how much I love science? It's so great!! No I'm not a SUPER nerd, I'm a nerd but not a super one. But it's so easy and fun I just love it! Today though was a big pain in the butt! So we got worksheets - which we have to finish tomorrow - and then we got a box of wooden balls (I know some of you are laughing, don't do that in class you'll get the stink eye from Worm). We had to construct atomic molecules using the balls and then we had to draw it as a chemical formula. It was so annoying, we kept wondering if we were doing it right. We pray that it's right because some stuff are really confusing! What my friends and I couldn't help but notice was some guy was walking around with a suit and clip board ACTING all important. We know he's not. He was probably evaluating the class but it was really creepy. He kept looking at our group. We all agreed that he was one creepy guy!

Then after school I hung out and tried to finish all my homework in Ms. Caren's room - failed by the way - and my friends came in to hang out too. It was so fun! Their the reason I didn't finish, haha. I love them though, they totally rock. Well, that's all really because shortly after they came, we all had to leave. So I'll fill you guys in on tomorrow. See ya.Jess Vichttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13242397483758686915noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9076166585862662484.post-75449190875335316482010-11-21T16:38:00.000-08:002010-11-21T16:38:57.330-08:00DramansterAfternoon guys - well it's afternoon for me,

So this topic was bound to come up sooner or later and I thought might as well tackle it while it was going on at my school. Leaves everything chronological - yes I do have a bit of an OCD. Okay, so sadly one of the few things that TV/Movie High School related shows and stuff don't lie about is Drama.

I really wish I could tell you guys that Drama is nothing but a myth but it isn't. Sadly, it's pretty much life - which I really hate. Right now, in my school, I think I briefly stated this but this big drama thing is going on. I don't know what exactly it is and I don't care. I'm just glad I'm not in it.

No one really likes Drama, well some people do, but most average teenagers just hate it. It's annoying. It's a pain. And it does nothing but cause trouble. My suggestion is this: avoid it! Don't get tempted by all the gossip going around. It's not your problem. It's not your business so just stay low. If someone tries to talk to you about it just say you have no idea what's going on and don't want to.

I told a teacher how much I hated it and told her why it was suddenly brought up. My friend, who decided to get into the whole thing, was about to tell me exactly what was going down and I shook my head and begged her to just keep me out of it. When it comes to drama, the less you know, the better.

That's all I can really do to help you. It's worked for me so far, and I'm having a great High School experience for the most part. Good luck and remember: Curiosity Killed the Cat.
Jess Vichttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13242397483758686915noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9076166585862662484.post-63658314894815069982010-11-20T20:35:00.000-08:002010-11-20T20:37:00.896-08:00Friend NotesOkay so I decided to keep the weekend productive so instead of writing about classes and stuff like I usual do on weekdays I'm going to just tell you guys a few things about High School that I don't always mention. This first one is about your friends!

Alrighty so High School! By now you have to have at least one friend or someone you talk to once in a while. Yeah, we all have those right? Well you know how in movies they are like "OMG there's the JOCK's Table" and "Oh stay away from the PLASTICS" and "Don't forget to avoid the NERDS." Yeah no. That is so not how it works in the real world! If you act like that in High School, expect a few people to look at you like your crazy, cause you probably are if you really believe everything you see on TV.

Okay so friends! You don't have to belong to one group and don't feel bad if you have to leave your friends sometimes. Like me, I have someone different to hang out with throughout the day. In the morning I hang out with the first friends I made in High School, they are super cool and awesome and great to hang with and I know them the best. Then in all the classes different situation. In French I talk to the guy next to me cause he is pretty cool. In English I talk to my Asian friends who sit around me. Geometry I talk to some upper upperclassmen I don't know too well. In PE I hang out with these four girls who are awesome at sports and fun to play with. Then During lunch, well it all really depends. Sometimes I hang out with my friend PT or my usual morning friends, or I sit in Mrs. Caren's room and eat there and hang with who's ever there or whatever! It just depends who I run into during Lunch. In DC I hang with Juniors who are super awesome! Then in Chem I talk to this one Junior who sits behind me!

See you don't have to limit yourself! Expand your group of friends and do NOT EVER do cliques! Once cliques happen all hell breaks loose! It sucks! Trust me! You lose friends, you make enemies. No, don't even try! Just make friends! Popularity doesn't matter! It doesn't matter how pretty you are, or smart, or anything. All that matters if if you have an open mind and are nice and willing to make friends! If all you care about is popularity and the right cliques you won't have as much fun. Just be open.

And that's my tip for today! Good luck and be nice!Jess Vichttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13242397483758686915noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9076166585862662484.post-81155383612707905982010-11-19T17:58:00.000-08:002010-11-20T19:43:56.834-08:00ThankGodItsFridayOkay so today was an average day for the most part. This morning I woke up at 5 am to go on the Computer but I was feel extra lazy so I decided to catch a few extra Zs, just my luck I don't wake up till 7:15 so I rush to get ready and have my bro drive me to school. Thank god for our school store! I was able to eat breakfast! Phew!

So in the morning I usually meet up with my friends one way or another and we just walk around the campus aimlessly. Some people have a normal hang out place, but like every year, my friends and I are wanders who boredly walk around school just talking and hanging out.

1st Period: French
So in French, as usual, I'm one of the first kids in just because I keep such a close eye on the time - not sure if I mentioned this but Mr. Frank is strict on timeliness and every time we're late he gives us a strike and three strikes = detention, more than that you get detention and a referral. More likely than not one of your teachers will have a similar policy. So once the class settled down we got out our homework and he just walked around seeing who did it. Then he asked for Volunteers to go up and do the problems on the board and who ever volunteered got extra credit - a great way for people who didn't do their homework to get some points back so always volunteer! After we checked out answers Mr. Frank had us do more partner work - that class is almost all about partners. After we finished exercise quatre, cinq, et six (4, 5, and 6) he had us do a Tet a tet, which is just more partner work. We ended the class with workbook pages - Ecoutez Comprehension - listening comprehension. Then he gave us Exercise trois (3) pg. quarante-deux (42) for homework and a worksheet where we have to draw a sketch of what an average teen would be doing at certain times. It was super easy - finished both in the last 20 minutes of math class.

2nd Period: English EXP
So sadly, we weren't going to do the fish bowl discussion again. Everyone of course was begging for the seats to be arranged like it. I told my teacher how we actually behave much better in a circle then we do in boring old rows. She agreed and said she'd be doing fish bowl every other week. We had a Journal Entry to do in class - we do that almost everyday. Super boring, but super easy. You mostly have to do some sort of journal one point in your life for English. Then she surprised us with an Anne Frank Pop Quiz! That just went terribly! She was quizzing us on some of the smallest details like what did Anne call the studying she did to pass the time "Time Killers", no one got that right! The whole class cheered then groaned after every answer was given. A lot of people probably failed. We spent the rest of the period just writing about the quotes SHE chose. We had to write about the topic, tone, theme and greater relevance. Then we had to draw a picture. Pretty boring.

3rd Period: Geometry
Okay so that class is kind of a blur because I pretty much spent most of the time skimming through the school newspaper that I barely remember a word he said. I finished the warm up and looked up at what Mr. Ching was doing on the board and saw he was waaay passed the warm up - he was already writing down notes. Luckily for me it was all deductive thinking and I caught on, but I seriously have no idea what half the things I wrote down. After doing a total of two - yes two - problems he gave us the last 20-30 minutes of class to do whatever we want. I finished my Geometry homework and French homework. Of course I didn't have time to even START my English homework. Reading Anne Frank and doing logs is a huge pain the in the butt, good luck if you have to do it!

4th Period: Physical Education
Well today was pretty different. It was raining so instead of our usual lap and then whatever else we do we just went straight inside and started doing our boring stretches - side stretch, leg back blah blah blah. At least once every week though we have to do weights and we have a set and blah blah blah. The only difference is we had upbeat gym music - which most everyone danced so using the set routines. We had to do double our usual amount for well I don't just cuz Mr. Chevy wanted us to. Then we got into groups of nine and started playing vollyball. The first group my team versed was the Asian Group, truth be told I have no idea what the scoring was. I was just standing there, not really caring because, well I rather not be mean and state the real reason. But we advanced all the way to the first court and was the first team to actual win a point against the undefeated champs in the class - cocky boys. BUT they had right to be, they were pretty dang good. Well anyways, we lost to them, 5-15 or something like that and we had to back down a court. Sadly, before the game started Drama erupted. Have I told you guys how much I hate Drama yet? I love Drama class, not drama in life. It really sucks. While some girls tried to all get into it and be like "what the hell is going on" I walked the other way and warned my friends: It's drama! Beware! When my friend tried to fill me in I walked away saying: Not my business, stayin out of it. I learned a long time ago Girl Drama really SUCKS! My suggestion: Make a lot of guy friends, they are so much easier to hang out with. And guys: try to stay out of it, cuz then it will doubly suck for you.

Lunch
Since I have PE in fourth period I pretty much run my heart out to the lunch line - I hate being in the back and refuse to cut. I got my usual: Turkey sammich. Yum! I love the school's turkey sammiches! They are sooo good and healthy! It's on whole wheat bread! My mouth waters at the thought! Well I go straight to DC class, like I always do to hang out with the sub for a little, Ms. Gallon. I began telling her about how horrid drama is and then we went on talking about Malls and which Mall we both went to and which one we like the best. She's one of those awesome subs. Then my friends came and we wandered the halls again, once again drama tried to show its ugly head but I ignored it. I forced my friend to come and bother Ms. Kitty for me, but it only lasted so long because she really didn't want to be there. Oh! There was also a pep rally! You should see how many talented Dancers there are in High School! It's mind blowing!

5th Period: Digital Citizenship (DC)
So we went straight to work since Mrs. Caren wasn't there and we switched up the rolls a bit. I wrote the script while Hee and Mark looked up pictures. Tack wasn't there so we Mark just took over his job is helping Hee. We finished and yeah, that class is pretty consistent when we have a task at hand.

6th Period: Chemistry
So there Mr. Worm finished teaching us about chemical formulas and how to do coefficients. I didn't pay too much attention because last year my old science teacher, Mrs. Energy, taught us all this towards the end of the year, but it's fun to relax instead of learn. I luckily got to finish my Chemistry Homework so now all I have is English!

So you see, on Fridays freshmen don't get beat up or 'pennied' even though I hear about that, it's all lies. There is however a football game as well as a play being preformed and I was going to go to one of them.... buuut it's raining so I opted out. I'll just watch the play tomorrow and my friends can tell me out the playoffs went. I hope we win!

So there's another day in an average High School. Catch you guys on the flip side!Jess Vichttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13242397483758686915noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9076166585862662484.post-73300091265331403822010-11-18T17:16:00.000-08:002010-11-18T17:17:03.400-08:00ThursdaysAlright, since I'm starting this blog in the middle of the year instead of the beginning like I should have I feel like I should explain what happens on Thursdays at my school. So, from what I hear, this is not all that common, but on Thursdays our classes are cut by 5 minutes and we get something we call "extended learning time" at the end of third period so we can do homework and stuff. In other words: study hall. Some of us use the time to get help in whatever class we're in and some of the other students use it to relax after learning. For me it depends how much homework I have.

Okay, now that you know how MY Thursdays are panned out, I'll just tell you about each class and again, this might differ from what you have done or are going to do because not all schools are the same and all teachers are definitely unique.

1st Period: I have French. We'll just call my teacher Mr. Frank (I'm not going to give real names of people I'm just going to give them pen names). He is a really cool teacher, one of those teachers who can crack a joke randomly and the class doesn't find it cheesy or corny - unless it really is cheesy or corny. We already learned about greeting people, describing people and ourselves and how to order from a cafe. Now we are learning about time and we did the most fun thing ever - feel free to advise this to your teacher if you ever learn about time. So first he got out a play clock and made some times and had us answer - he did something called cold call when you call out a random student for an answer. After picking on a few students, he let the students come up and cold call other students. It was hilarious!

"Can we pick on the same person over and over," Tommy had asked.
"No..." Mr. Frank answered, "But I will take that as you volunteering to come up here. Come on up."
Tommy makes a time and looks around for a second before calling out his three victims. "Samuel!" He called out.
"I knew it!" Samuel shouted.
The whole class laughed as he tried to decipher the confusing time.

After that we went on with our usual partner work and class ended before we could really finish.

2nd Period: Honors English
Now some of you may think that it's not possible to get into an honors class as a Freshmen. Well you're right. We are actually called English EXP - which I to this day still have no idea what it means - but the teacher short cuts it and calls it Honors English. In that class we must act like honors students and when selecting students for real Honors English in Sophomore Year we are first priority. Today we did something extremely fun called the Fish Bowl Discussion - some of you may or may not have done it.

Here's how it goes: Our seats are arranged in a circle. 1 inner, 1 outer. The students in the inner circle have a free flow discussion. The teacher sits back and takes notes as the students all talk amongst each other and debate their thoughts, while the outer circle takes notes in case they wanted to respond later on. After fifteen minutes, we change seats. Inner circle goes out to the outer circle and we exchange rolls. They can either start a new discussion of respond to the inner circles. Usually they expand, but in my class they did both. After their fifteen minutes the outer circle gets a chance to respond to the inner circle's response. Brian took up the whole five minutes.

What made it a little more interesting was our VP, we'll call her Mrs. Alligator, sat in and took notes on our discussion as well. Probably the evaluate our teacher, Mrs. Cat's, teaching methods. We ended the class with a very heated discussion, but that's how my class always ends it.

3rd Period: Geometry

This has to be one of the most interesting classes I have. The teacher, Mr. Ching, has different methods of teaching. He teaches us what he knows we have to know, there is no fluff in that class. If he learned it and found out the information was completely useless he doesn't emphasis it. Since the Academic Standards require him to teach it he does, but doesn't over emphasis it. What I love is that he is a very open teacher and he's just one of those cool laid back teachers where if you tell him a rumor he'd most likely go "Hell no! She said what now?" If we ever have free time, which we always do, he goes on to teach us a few LIFE lessons. Such as "How to turn a sensitive man into a grudge holding jerk". I'd tell you more, but I really can't.

4th Period: Physical Education

Alright, so for those of you who don't have PE everyday let me just start off with saying: It really isn't all that bad. I know that a lot of schools have different PE standards. Some have it every other day. Some don't really make you do much work. Instead of fitness jogging, you have fitness walking. PE is pretty consistent in High School though and you have two ways to get your PE credits.

First, there's the pretty easy way - at least from what I've seen - JROTC: where you learn discipline but from what I saw today don't really have to do things like run track laps or anything. Today they were doing drills and if they made you laugh you had to do either five push ups or run a small circle - didn't look that hard. Of course, it could be harsher in other schools.

Second, is just doing PE itself. I find it super fun and it's just like any other PE class from Middle School. Unlike some TV shows say, you don't run track and do impossible things all day. We play sports like normal and if we run we only run up to 3 laps at most, if he goes up to 4 that's the Mile. Right now we are learning Football and it's super fun!

Most PE teachers for Freshmen are super nice and let you build your endurance for the mile because they know that Middle School is different from High School running. In the beginning of the school year all we really had to do was run one lap around the track everyday, that's 1/4 of a mile and if you actually try you can get done in about four minutes, which is our time limit. Actually, a lot sooner than that if you don't decide to just be lazy and walk it. Now we have a pattern. My class is special because our schedule is affected by lunch so I'll tell you the usual pattern. Mondays they run one lap, Tuesdays they run two laps, Wednesdays (Sometimes called Mile Wednesday) they run three laps, Thursdays they run two laps, and on Fridays they run one lap. Pretty consistent right?

Now if you don't think you can really do that, just relax and remember: The only way to fail PE is to not try at all.

Lunch
Alright so I have lunch right after PE, pretty lucky right? Lunch is like any other school. You eat and hang out with your friends. Depending on what school you go to, you might be able to go off campus for food. Either you can walk down to a near by fast food place (if you have a car you can drive) or you run home. As long as you get back for fifth period, alls good. In most High Schools they let you have your phones out when you're out of class, but like I said some High Schools are much harsher.

If you join some kind of club, most likely this is the time they have their meetings. I joined three clubs: Key Club, Interact and Dance Club. Key Club and Interact are volunteer clubs, to help you get your volunteering hours done (Mostly you need 20 to graduate) and Dance Club is just for fun! If you join a club, try to invite your friends. Make it twice as fun and if they don't join, make new friends in the club! That's what clubs are for.

5th Period: Digital Citizenship a.k.a Computers
Alright so I'm only taking this class for one semester because a class that is back of it for the next semester is Current Life and that's a credit required to graduate - in case you don't know what credits are: they are just the classes you need to pass to graduate. One year of credits is I believe 20 credits and one semester is 10. I'm pretty sure, I'll have to get back to you on that. Anyways, right now I'm loving that class. Mrs. Caren is super cool! She's that one teacher that I personally trust and if I have a problem I go to her. Everyone has that teacher so don't think it's weird, most likely you've already have one and just didn't know it!

Right now we are working on Public Service Announcements (PSA) about something called Sexting. We have four options on how to make it: Google Presentations (Power Point), Video, Paper Slide Video (PSV: Video Slideshow), and Glogs (poster blogs). We choose how we do it and break up into groups and make a PSA for a specific age group. My group is doing PSVs for Middle Schoolers.

Period 6: Chemistry
Okay, so if anyone's in Middle School, in High School classes are only six periods instead or seven - or whatever number of classes you have. I know for my 8th grade year I had seven periods and surprisingly enough, class ends about 15 minutes sooner for High Schoolers than for Middle Schoolers.

Anyways, I think Chemistry is great! If you have a chance to take it, take it! It's recommended to get into college - because its a lab science class - and for me it's super fun! Our teacher, Mr. Worm, is a really tall, skinny guy - thus his pen name. He is really funny, but a serious teacher - does that make sense? He teaches us exactly what we need to know to do the homework easily and then gives us about fifteen to twenty minutes of class time to finish it - might differ with your teacher. He offers tutoring - much like other teachers in high school do - after school for anyone who really doesn't get the course.

So there, that's pretty much the average day for me. I explained a lot since you guys don't really know the teachers so this Post is probably going to be my longest. In all the classes I got homework, but like I said I had study hall so I got most of done. I better go now to finish my English EXP homework. Catch you guys later!Jess Vichttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13242397483758686915noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9076166585862662484.post-40604508673041581622010-11-17T17:59:00.000-08:002010-11-17T20:17:19.916-08:00Hey!Hey People of, I hope, Earth,

So before I start my blogging, I thought I should tell you briefly about myself and this blog. Alright, my name is Jess, if you have't seen and right now at this moment I am a Freshmen in High School, sometimes called as Fresh meat, but only as a joke, no worries. I'm recently 15, love to write and have a pretty normal life. Wake up, go to school, come home and chill, just do my thing. Now, I bet you're wondering, why in the world would I write a blog if there isn't much interesting going on in my life. Well...

I was just randomly talking to my best friend and she said she was making a blog. I thought, hey why not give it a try, especially after reading her blog. I spent and hour thinking of what to write about when I realized that the perfect topic was happening everyday: High School! Now everyone has the misconception that in High School jocks pick on nerds and freshmen, teachers are all evil, and that everyone randomly break out into song. I'm here to end that misconception, because really, High School isn't that terrifying. In my posts I will explain exactly how High School is like, and I promise to be as completely honest as I possibly can. I know when I first started High School I was really scared about what was going to happen, boy did I overreact!

But don't get confused. I'm going to explain what happens in MY High School life, but that doesn't mean everything that happens to me will for sure happen to you. You might get a similar experience, but nothing should be word for word. So hey, I gotta start on my homework. I'll fill you guys in later. See ya!Jess Vichttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13242397483758686915noreply@blogger.com0
